Young Pianist Competition

The Young Pianists Competition inspires budding musicians from elementary through high school to pursue excellence and artistry in piano performance. This dynamic event challenges students to showcase their talent, dedication, and passion for music on a competitive stage.

Inland Empire Piano Festival

The Inland Empire Piano Festival is hosted by the MTAC branches of Redlands, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Temecula. Every year there is a new theme: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary. Students are required to perform compositions by a composer from the specific theme for a panel of professionals who judge technical and interpretive ability and artistic presentation for students that participate.

Southern California Junior Bach Festival

The Southern California Junior Bach Festival is a vibrant celebration of Baroque music, showcasing the timeless brilliance of J.S. Bach. This prestigious competition invites young musicians to bring Bach’s masterpieces to life with skill and artistry. To earn a spot in the regional festival, performers must captivate audiences with a carefully prepared composition by the legendary composer himself.

Certificate of Merit 2024

The Certificate of Merit (CM) is a prestigious music examination administered each spring by the Music Teachers Association of California. This comprehensive program evaluates students in music theory, sight-reading, technique, and performance, setting a high standard for both students and their instructors. CM achievements are widely recognized by many institutions as valuable for students preparing for college, whether or not they pursue a future in music.

CM tests students on theory, sight-reading, technique, and performance and holds them and their teachers to the highest standards. As a result, many institutions have recognized CM results as being essential for students pursuing a college career, regardless of whether they continue their music career path.

Students spend the entire year preparing for this event that tests them on theory, sight-reading, technique, and performance. It is a rigorous exam that holds both student and teacher to the highest standard. All institutions recognize results from this exam. They have been imperative in promoting students pursuing a college career, whether they continue a career in music or not.
